The President’s message of congratulations reads, in particular:
“These spring days of celebration bring spiritual joy and hope to millions of Russians and strengthen their faith. It is pleasing to see that the Russian Orthodox Church and the other traditional Christian churches in Russia have become an important part of our country’s civil society. Christians in our country have succeeded in gathering significant intellectual and material resources and putting them to use in active social, educational and cultural work. Religious groups are doing a great deal to give the young generation a decent upbringing, combat social vices and strengthen the institution of the family. This important work deserves the most sincere respect.”
