The Moscow Mayor told the President that in the first quarter of 2007 the number of births far exceeded the number of deaths in Moscow. Yuri Luzhkov believes that this positive dynamic is the result of implementing programmes for constructing housing for young families and resolving social problems. Both of these issues receive funding from the municipal budget.
The Mayor also told the President about how housing reform in Moscow is progressing.
In answer to the head of state’s question about problems that require special attention from the municipal authorities and the federal government, the Mayor cited developing Moscow’s industrial and research and development sectors.
