Before boarding his plane, Mr Putin laid a wreath at a monument to the liberating Soviet Army in the North Korean capital. The day before, the Russian President and North Korean leader Kim Jong-il held negotiations, after which they signed a joint declaration.
After leaving Pyongyang, Mr Putin flew to Blagoveshchensk.
