During lunch in Nago, the Russian and German leaders discussed many aspects of bilateral relations and current international issues, in particular, the Balkan situation and European security. The parties confirmed their determination to comply with agreements, mainly commercial and economic, made during the Russian President’s visit to Berlin. They agreed for Russia to put off until 2016 former Soviet debt repayments to a total of DM8 billion (about $4 billion), which Russia was to pay off within last and this year. Gerhard Schroeder accepted Vladimir Putin’s invitation to visit Russia in November and take part in celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Russian-German treaty.
