The Korean President told Mr Putin about the results of the recent First Inter-Korean Summit in Pyongyang and expressed appreciation to the Russian Government for its assistance and political support in organising the summit.
Mr Putin congratulated Kim Dae Jung on the successful summit emphasising that it was a sufficient success of the national reconciliation policy. He stressed also Russia’s determination to create an environment that would guarantee the realisation of the agreements reached by North and South Korea.
Discussing issues related to bilateral relations, the parties agreed to mark the upcoming 10th anniversary of the Russian-Korean diplomatic relations (September 30, 2000) with the development of constructive cooperation between the two countries.
Mr Putin thanked Kim Dae Jung for the invitation to visit the Republic of Korea.
