During a telephone conversation that lasted nearly half an hour, the Russian and Uzbek Presidents exchanged views on the fight against terrorism in Afghanistan and in the whole of Central Asia.
Both sides were pleased with the high level of coordination between Russia and Uzbekistan, which under the circumstances is becoming increasingly important.
Mr Putin and Mr Karimov stressed the similarity of their two countries’ approaches to the ongoing operation to eliminate hotbeds of terrorism and extremism in Afghanistan and to finding a post-conflict settlement.
