The joint statement that was adopted following Russian-Malaysian talks in the Kremlin confirms this. Vladimir Putin and Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi expressed their satisfaction with how bilateral relations are developing and noted the potential for their future expansion.
Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s official visit to Russia took place during the 40th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic relations.
Russian and Malaysian leaders discussed trade, economic, and military-technical cooperation as well as cooperation in the cultural and educational spheres.
They placed special emphasis on topical international problems.
At the meeting with journalists following the talks Vladimir Putin declared that Russia and Malaysia consider developing investment cooperation, particularly investment cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, to be a priority within the development of bilateral cooperation. Military-technical cooperation, cooperation in the high-tech sector and in space exploration are all areas that have important potential for increasing cooperation.
