In light of the fact that the British Prime Minister called just before the end of his tenure, Vladimir Putin and Anthony Blair exchanged opinions on the way their countries’ bilateral relations have developed over the past decade and the relations’ future prospects.
Both parties noted that despite the fact that certain issues remain unresolved bilateral cooperation has significantly developed in many directions and, first and foremost, Russia and Britain have achieved important progress in the trade and economic spheres. Both parties expressed their desire to preserve and further strengthen the positive gains in Russian-British relations.
Vladimir Putin also expressed his hope that Mr Blair’s valuable experience in domestic and foreign affairs will prove effective in helping solve topical international problems.
