The service to consecrate the Valdai Iversky Monstery’s main cathedral, opened after restoration, was led by Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexii II before the monastery’s main holy object – the Iversky icon of the Mother of God.
After the service, the Patriarch thanked Mr Putin for his contribution to the monastery’s restoration and gave him a modern copy of the Iversky icon of the Mother of God.
The Iversky Cathedral’s opening marks the completion of the monastery’s restoration. Around 3,000 specialists took part in the restoration work.
