Speaking at the Forum of Leaders of Russian-Kazakhstani Border Regions in Aktyubinsk in Kazakhstan, Dmitry Medvedev said that stability and predictability are the two principles at the foundation of the two countries’ economic cooperation. Mr Medvedev also stressed that bilateral cooperation in the energy sector has a direct bearing on strengthening regional energy security.
The forum discussed cooperation in the areas of high technology, agriculture, river transport, food security measures, and the consequences of the global financial crisis. Russia and Kazakhstan signed a package of eight agreements at the forum.
Summing up the results of the forum, Mr Medvedev said that Russia and Kazakhstan will expend their bilateral dialogue and place particular emphasis on cooperation in the innovative sphere and building up ties at regional level.
