During the Russian-Finnish talks that took place on the first day of the visit, the two leaders discussed developing fuel and energy cooperation, promising bilateral infrastructure and environmental projects, and ways to overcome the effects of the global financial and economic crisis.
Dmitry Medvedev met with the Speaker of the Parliament of Finland Sauli Niinisto and representatives of Finland's parliamentary factions, and also spoke at the University of Helsinki. The main topic of his speech was security issues in Europe.
On the second day the Russian President laid flowers at the graves of former Finnish presidents Carl Mannerheim and Urho Kekkonen and a wreath at the Cross of Heroes marking a mass grave of Finnish soldiers in the Hietaniemi memorial cemetery.
Dmitry Medvedev and Tarja Halonen then visited the town of Porvoo, where they toured the Cathedral and talked with local residents.
