In addition to the G8 heads of state, the meetings were attended by leaders from other 19 countries and 8 international organisations.
Topics of discussion included overcoming the financial crisis, global problems such as climate change, and helping the world’s poorest countries in their development, as well as current international security issues, including the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, the situation surrounding Iran’s nuclear programme, North Korea’s nuclear programme, and the Middle East peace process. Several documents were signed in follow-up of the meeting.
Concluding his work at the Summit, Dmitry Medvedev held a press conference where he gave a brief summary of the meeting between G8 leaders and answered questions from journalists.
