Speaking at a meeting in Zvenigorod on small and medium-sized business development, Dmitry Medvedev said that lowering administrative barriers remains the state’s major priority in its efforts to support business activity.
An important package of measures has been passed over the last year in the aim of creating a more favourable environment for small business development. Measures include a law that sets restrictions on the various audits to which businesses can be subjected. The most important thing now is to make these laws work effectively, not just at federal, but also at regional and local level.
Mr Medvedev said that in this situation it is unacceptable to change or distort the federal laws with local regulations and regulations issued by the various ministries. The Prosecutor General’s Office and the law enforcement agencies need to take swift and firm action to deal with such cases.
The President also said that regional laws and inter-ministerial regulations concerning small business should be brought into line with federal law as rapidly as possible.
