The two presidents called for an immediate start to a comprehensive and objective international investigation under ICAO aegis into the circumstances of the crash of the Malaysia Airlines plane in Donetsk Region.
They stressed the need for an immediate end to military operations in southeast Ukraine as an essential condition for the international experts to be able to work productively at the crash site.
Mr Putin and Mr Hollande continued their discussions on international efforts to facilitate a swift resumption of consultations within the contact group and other measures to get a peace process underway in Ukraine. In particular, they noted the need to carry out Russia’s initiative to have OSCE observers present at Russian border crossing points to monitor the situation on the border with Ukraine.
