The President said, in particular, in his message:
“I note that Russian-Japanese trade and economic ties are developing rapidly and are being enriched with new plans and ideas. Our bilateral trade last year reached a historic record of more than $33 billion.
Ties between our countries at the regional level are growing, as is the number of joint initiatives that will help to develop Siberia and the Far East. We are carrying out big investment projects in energy, the timber industry, healthcare, and infrastructure. All of this plays a big part in strengthening confidence and understanding between our countries and peoples.
I am confident that we have all the opportunities we need to give our bilateral cooperation a further boost, especially in science-intensive production and advanced technology.
I hope that the substantial discussions at this investment forum will serve to develop further the multifaceted cooperation between Russia and Japan and build up constructive ties between our countries’ business communities.”
