18–19 November 2006 the President of Russia will participate in the 14th meeting between the heads of state and government of the Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum that will take place in Hanoi, Vietnam. The summit’s main theme consists in: ‘Towards a Dynamic Community for Sustainable Development and Prosperity’. A wide range of topical political and economic issues including the fight against international terrorism, improving preparation in the event of extraordinary situations and epidemics, ensuring energy security, increasing cooperation in trade and investment, and deepening economic integration in the Asia-Pacific region will be discussed at the summit. Following the discussion APEC leaders plan to adopt a Declaration of APEC Leaders that reflects their coordinated approaches with respect to crucial global and regional problems.
19–20 November 2006 Vladimir Putin will make an official visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. During Vladimir Putin’s visit he will hold talks with the President of Vietnam, Nguyen Minh Triet, and with other Vietnamese authorities. Following the talks they plan to sign a number of important documents on key issues of bilateral cooperation.
