The discussion covered pressing international issues. Within the context of bilateral and multilateral Russian-Finnish cooperation, special attention was given to such matters as relations between Russia and the European Union and partnership in the Arctic.
The two leaders exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine with an accent on the need to implement the set of measures adopted in Minsk on February 12. Mr Putin and Mr Niinisto stressed the importance of the efforts by the special OSCE monitoring mission, which includes representatives of Russia and Finland.
The two presidents also reviewed plans for bilateral contacts at various levels.
