Mr Kokov said that the gross regional product grew by 103.3 percent over the last year, and the industrial output index was up by 105 percent. Production in the agriculture sector increased by 104.4 percent, and growth was up by 108.2 percent in the construction sector and by 112.1 percent in housing construction. Investment grew by 121.1 percent.
Tax revenue and compulsory payments and fees at all levels of the budget increased by 23.5 percent.
Around 200 new facilities were opened in 2014–2015, including one of the biggest education sector projects in Russia – the Solnechny Gorod children’s creative academy, which has places for 5,000 children from age five upwards.
Another major new facility was the new cable car on Mt Elbrus, at a height of 3,847 metres, 70 metres higher than the cable car at Mont Blanc. A modern new ski track was also opened.
Around 300,000 tourists, including around 25,000 foreign tourists, visited the republic last year.
One of the biggest vegetable storage facilities in Russia, with capacity of 75,000 tonnes, was built last year in just six months through a public-private partnership programme. A facility has opened with capacity for producing 120 million cans of green peas and sweet corn.
Also discussed at the meeting were public safety, protecting facilities from terrorist attacks, and bringing down the republic’s crime rate.
