President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Mr Sargsyan, we know each other well and we worked together when we both headed our countries’ governments.
You have an important new mission now and have become a senior-level international official. I hope very much that the Eurasian Economic Commission’s work will be a success under your direction.
Mr Khristenko [Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission Board in 2012–2016] prepared the ground very well, I think. There are a lot of issues and problems ahead that we need to resolve together. Most important of all, of the work we need to do together, is to put this integration organisation’s advantages to maximum use in order to resolve the problems our countries face. We established this organisation in the first place in order to create new conditions for economic growth and for developing the social sector.
I wish you success. This is our first meeting in our current capacities. You only recently took up your new responsibilities. Soon, we will have the prime ministers’ meeting in Yerevan, and then the summit meeting in Astana, so we will be working together with you to prepare for these big events.
Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Tigran Sargsyan: Mr President,
Thank you very much for this chance to discuss with you the Eurasian Economic Union’s development prospects. As you said, the integration potential is great and we must put this to work in our peoples’ interests.
We have to ensure continuity in the board’s work, and at the same time, we also need to prepare suitable responses to the new challenges we see today.
We see that the trade and economic landscape and the global picture are changing, and the Eurasian Economic Commission and our union overall must be ready to find their place in the global transformations underway.
I can assure you that we will do everything possible to implement in full the priorities and policies set by our member countries’ leaders.
Vladimir Putin: Thank you.
