The federal law regulates the activity of news aggregators in Russia.
In particular, the owners of news aggregators are obligated to prevent the dissemination of information of an illegal or defamatory nature, check the reliability of socially important information and comply with the requirements of Russian laws on the procedure governing the dissemination of public information.
The law stipulates that the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Media will form and maintain a register of news aggregators to oversee their activity.
The law also institutes administrative liability for a news aggregator owner’s failure to fulfill obligations.
