Mr Gorodetsky said that the region’s agricultural sector posted a good result in 2015, with growth up by 7.2 percent. Industrial index growth came to 100.1 percent for the first five months of 2016, and 100.4 percent in the processing industry.
Work is proceeding as planned on building new kindergartens and a programme has been drawn up to build new schools and rebuild old ones.
The demographic situation continues to improve. The region had population growth of 11,800 last year and now has a population of 2.782 million people. The programme for voluntary resettlement of compatriots living abroad has been a success, with 8,000 people moving to the region under this programme in 2015.
Mr Gorodetsky also told the President that a programme for reindustrialising the Novosibirsk Region, taking into account the region’s competitive advantages and potential, has been drafted with the help of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Siberian branch.
