Instruction at the academy is based on the standard school curriculum with a focus on practical classes and military and fitness training.
During the visit, the President also presented a Gold Star medal to Lyudmila Loktionova, the daughter of Anatoly Gorshkov, a commander of the Tula defence operation during the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945 who was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Russia.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Esteemed veterans, mentors, guests, comrade cadets,
Today, the Tula Suvorov Military Academy will be presented with the colours, a sacred symbol of military valour and glory.
A great honour has been bestowed on the new generation of Tula Suvorov cadets – to carry on the glorious tradition of the educational institution that was founded here, in the homeland of legendary gunsmiths, back during the Great Patriotic War.
At that time, Suvorov schools began to open in the country’s liberated regions and thousands of boys who had lost their parents and their homes, hundreds of “sons of regiments” were able to sit down at desks and begin their studies, learning the ABC’s of science, including military science.
Suvorov academies became a home for them, where wise, experienced mentors helped them choose a profession and grow into well-educated and honest people, worthy officers, defenders of their Motherland and true citizens of our country.
I am confident that the reinstated Tula Suvorov Military Academy will preserve and add to the values of the Suvorov education system. Its distinctive feature has always been profound knowledge, exemplary conduct and discipline, and instilling true patriotism.
This is especially important today when our society is restoring historical continuity and the bond between generations, revisiting the traditions and foundations that have for centuries made our people strong and united.
Dear students, Suvorovites,
You have years of intense studies ahead of you, during which you will learn the foundations of Suvorov’s science of victory. Your mentors, experienced career officers, will help you along this path. I am confident that you will always be able to rely on support from the Tula Region authorities and assistance from public and veterans’ organisations.
I congratulate the Tula Suvorov Military Academy and its students, Suvorovites, as well as the mentors on the school’s reopening and the presentation of the colours.
I wish you success.
