The Agreement was signed in Pyongyang on November 17, 2015, in the aim of developing the bilateral legal framework for cooperation on extradition issues.
Under the agreement, the two parties undertake on a reciprocal basis and subject to the provisions set forth in the agreement to extradite upon the other party’s request individuals in either country’s territory for criminal prosecution or serving a sentence in the requesting country for crimes resulting in the extradition.
The Agreement does not affect issues regulated by the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union and does not contradict any other of the Russian Federation’s international agreements.
