The President expressed gratitude to Mr Arnault for organising an exhibition in Paris devoted to Russian art patron Sergei Shchukin.
Major Russian museums, including the Pushkin Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery, and the Hermitage loaned unique pieces to the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris to commemorate Sergei Shchukin, the famous Russian philanthropist of the early 20th century.
For the first time in nearly 90 years, the exhibition brought together Shchukin’s collection of masterpieces that have become cult objects, including over 150 works of art, which is about half of Shchukin’s entire collection, including paintings by Monet, Gauguin, Matisse, Picasso, and Malevich. The newly opened, but already popular Louis Vuitton Foundation — a new Paris landmark — was chosen as the exhibition site.
