President Medvedev said at the meeting that he has submitted to the State Duma a draft law introducing amendments to the Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes. The amendments would toughen penalties for members of organised criminal groups. The President proposes that criminal groups’ coordinators should face stiffer penalties of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
Mr Medvedev and Mr Nurgaliyev also discussed measures to strengthen and develop the Interior Ministry’s human resources.
