The Federal Law establishes a preference when issuing Russian Federation permanent resident status to foreign citizens who were themselves or whose lineal ancestor, adoptive parent or spouse was unlawfully deported from the territory of the Crimean Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.
Foreign citizens are eligible for the preferences the law offers if they can produce a certificate of rehabilitation issued by an office of the Russian Federation Interior Ministry or the Prosecutor’s Office or a Russian Federation court in accordance with Russian Federation Law No. 1761-I of October 18, 1991, On the Rehabilitation of Victims of Political Repression.
