The APEC leaders plan to discuss the current situation concerning the world economy as well as the increased role of the Asia Pacific in ensuring sustainable, innovative and comprehensive growth of the global GDP. Special attention will be paid to further trade liberalisation and the prospects of the establishing an Asia-Pacific free trade zone. In this context, the participants will discuss Russian initiatives on joining the integration platforms of Eurasia and the Asian-Pacific region as well as the integration of remote territories of APEC economies into the regional system of economic ties.
The participants are expected to exchange views on expanding cooperation in the digital economy and enhancing information security. They will also hold a meeting with the invited leaders of the ASEAN member states.
Following the results of the summit, the participants plan to adopt a Joint Declaration of the Leaders that will sum up the results of APEC’s work in 2017 and outline further steps towards developing diverse cooperation in the Asia Pacific.
The President of Russia has a number of bilateral meetings planned on the summit’s sidelines.
