The President toured the complex of monastic buildings following renovations, in particular, the Resurrection Cathedral, the Refectory Chambers and the Church of the Nativity of Christ.
The renovations are financed by the monastery’s Charity Fund established in 2008. Since then, 29 of the 31 facilities of the New Jerusalem Monastery have been restored and renovated.
The President was accompanied by the co-chairs of the Charity Fund ‒ Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, and Chairman of the Board of the Charity Fund Viktor Zubkov, as well as Archimandrite Theophylact, the abbot of the monastery.
