In addition to traditional issues, the recent CIS summit in Chisinau, foreign economic relations and economic cooperation within the CIS were the subjects of discussion at the meeting.
The President stressed that the CIS summit has demonstrated its member states' interest in the development of the Commonwealth as the only forum that unites and facilitates the development of interstate ties within the former Soviet Union, bringing together post-Soviet states.
In addition to the permanent Security Council members, the meeting was attended by Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin, Russian Ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov and Russian Ambassador to Belarus Alexander Surikov.
