Official visit to Italy
Vladimir Putin visited the Vatican, where he was received by Pope Francis at the Apostolic Palace. The President of Russia also met with Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin.
Then Vladimir Putin held talks with President of Italy Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte. Following the consultations, the President of Russia and the Italian Prime Minister gave a joint news conference.
Later, Vladimir Putin attended a dinner with representatives of the Russian-Italian Civil Society Dialogue Forum held at the Villa Madama, an Italian Government property used for receptions.
At the end of the formal programme of his visit to Italy, Vladimir Putin had a brief meeting at Fiumicino Airport with former Prime Minister of Italy Silvio Berlusconi.
