The President’s message reads, in part:
“Kazakhstan has achieved considerable success in strengthening its statehood and economy over its years of sovereign development. Under your leadership the republic has established its place as a responsible and influential member of the international community. I am sure that Kazakhstan’s presidency of the OSCE in 2010 will make a substantial contribution to guaranteeing international stability and security.
The strategic partnership between Russia and Kazakhstan is showing positive development and has a solid foundation in our peoples’ cultural and spiritual closeness. It is important to look after and build upon the traditions of friendship and good-neighbourliness that we share.
Our bilateral political dialogue at all different levels plays a particular part in relations between our countries. I place great value on the trusting and constructive personal relationship that we have. I have warm memories of our meetings this year, especially at the Interregional Cooperation Forum in Orenburg on September 11, 2009, which gave a big boost to our bilateral partnership. I hope to continue these fruitful contacts in a few days time during the upcoming meetings in hospitable Almaty.
Russia and Kazakhstan share a common vision of the major global processes on the international stage and a desire to find the best solutions to the key problems we face today. Our countries work actively together in a whole number of multilateral organisations and forums including the CIS, Eurasian Economic Community, Collective Security Treaty Organisation, and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
I am sure that our good-neighbourly relations will continue to develop for the good of our peoples and in the interests of peace and stability in the Eurasian region.”
