In his address the President’s Adviser presented the main new items in the national climate policy, in particular, the creation of a large-scale system for pursuing climate projects and additional funding for climate research and fighting wildfires.
Ruslan Edelgeriyev called on his colleagues to make sure that they can deliver on their promises of urgent decarbonisation of the global economy. He stressed that priority should be given to real efforts in cutting greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to climate change. The President’s Adviser pointed out that the energy transition and low-energy transformation must be socially oriented so that not a single person remains without support.
The forum participants discussed separately preparations for and expectations from the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change to be held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, in November 2022.
