Taking part in the meeting were Secretary of State and Deputy Minister of Culture Nadezhda Prepodobnaya, deputy heads of the Russian Federation’s entities overseeing cultural issues, as well as representatives of the concerned federal executive agencies and the cultural community.
They discussed the role of culture in preserving and strengthening traditional Russian moral and spiritual values.
Igor Levitin said in his opening remarks that the preservation of our unique national traditions and values, which are handed down from generation to generation through education, family upbringing and cultural projects has a great role to play in strengthening national identity.
Head of the State Council Commission on Culture Dmitry Azarov pointed out the importance of formulating common conceptual approaches for productive interdepartmental efforts to identify and support talented people, create conditions for bringing up harmoniously developed and socially aware people, and for strengthening traditional moral and spiritual values in society.
Nadezhda Prepodobnaya spoke about the comprehensive educational efforts taken within the framework of the Culture National Project and the federal projects, Invented in Russia and the Pushkin Card, to promote traditional moral ideals, fortify patriotism and preserve the national cultural code.
The meeting participants discussed the projects of the Znaniye Society, and the functioning of the Russian movement of children and young people Movement of the First. They put forth proposals for supporting talented young people in order to preserve and strengthen music traditions and preserve the intangible ethnic and cultural heritage of the Russian peoples.
