Presidential Aide, Chairman of the Maritime Board Nikolai Patrushev held a meeting on port infrastructure development to ensure the operation of the Transarctic Transport Corridor.
Tasks were set to upgrade and develop the key seaports in the Russian Arctic. Possible ways to connect seaports with rail and road transport, and inland waterways of the country were also considered.
Proposals were worked out on how to transform ports into advanced, multimodal transport and logistics hubs, the development of which should be closely aligned with the integrated development of adjacent territories and the shelf zone.
The meeting participants noted that the Transarctic Transport Corridor would enhance the connectivity of coastal areas with the rest of the country, fostering socioeconomic development and facilitating the implementation of the objectives set by the President of the Russian Federation.
As part of his working trip, Nikolai Patrushev visited the Sevmash enterprise in Severodvinsk, where he inspected progress in the construction of nuclear submarines. He also saw the results of the implementation of state support measures for the plant, aimed at modernising production.
During his visit to the Zvyozdochka Ship Repair Centre of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, the Presidential Aide discussed activities aimed at technical overhaul of the enterprise. The investment programmes currently underway cover the parent enterprise in Severodvinsk and also the branches of the Ship Repair Centre in other regions.
On the same day, Nikolai Patrushev laid a wreath and flowers at the monument to the Participants of the 1941–1945 Arctic Convoys in Arkhangelsk and congratulated the city’s residents on the upcoming 80th anniversary of the Victory.
