The heads of state had an exchange of views on the outcomes of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum, held on June 18–21 and attended by Bahrain as a guest country. Vladimir Putin noted the active and productive work by the Bahraini delegation which was led by Representative of His Majesty the King of Bahrain for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, National Security Advisor Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The King of Bahrain thanked the Russian side for the warm welcome. Both leaders confirmed their commitment to further developing the Russian-Bahraini mutually beneficial cooperation in trade and economic, investment, and cultural and humanitarian spheres.
The leaders also discussed the situation in the Middle East and spoke in favour of restoring peace and stability in the region as soon as possible. In this context, Russia's initiative of hosting the first Russia-Arab summit, to be held in Moscow in October, was once again recognised as timely.
