Negotiations were held with representatives of the government authorities of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The two sides exchanged information on the state policy directions concerning combatting corruption, on regulatory environment innovations in this sphere, and on the prospects for strengthening practical bilateral collaboration.
Following the talks, Chief of the Presidential Civil Service, Personnel and Anti-Corruption Directorate Maxim Travnikov and Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan Akmal Burkhanov signed a memorandum of understanding between the Directorate and the Agency.
Particular attention was drawn to the significance of cooperation within international anti-corruption frameworks, in light of Uzbekistan’s plans to host the 12th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption in 2027, which sets forth the direction and model of interaction between the states parties in combatting corruption.
The dialogue has demonstrated a convergence of views on many fundamental issues, including the assertion that corruption undermines the rule of law, hinders economic development of states, and adversely affects the moral fabric of society.
