Mr Naryshkin participated in the opening of the XIV Tomsk Innovation Forum which is focusing on the strategy for Russia’s innovative development through 2020.
Speaking at the opening of the forum, Sergei Naryshkin emphasised that Tomsk has rightfully become one of the cities where development of regional economies is actively discussed. “In industry, natural resources, and most importantly, human capital, this region is one of the richest in Russia. The opportunities Siberia offers must be fully used, first and foremost, through innovations and attracting investments to the innovative sector of the economy”, Sergei Naryshkin noted during the forum’s discussion session.
Strategy of Siberia’s socioeconomic development through 2020 includes a large spectrum of investment cooperation in innovations and energy, mining and transportation, telecommunications and tourism, as well as major projects of complex development of lands. “These long-term projects are supported by the state and hence should be attractive for private investment while their full-scale implementation will upgrade and modernise the economy of the Federal District and improve living standards here”, Mr Naryshkin said.
As part of his working trip, Sergei Naryshkin participated in a joint meeting of the Council under the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Siberian Federal District, the Sub-Commission for the Siberian Federal District of the Governmental Commission on Investment Projects, and the Siberian Accord Interregional Association Council on developing economy and social services in the Federal District.
