Mr Naryshkin opened the Culture as a Resource for Modernisation International Congress which is taking place for the first time and is intended to be a platform for discussing cultural issues on an interstate and interregional level.
In his opening address to the congress, Sergei Naryshkin read greetings from President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev, to the participants.
“The cultural dimension of development is particularly relevant to modern, multifunctional states requiring a greater attention to adjusting policies in culture and designing national development strategies,” Sergei Naryshkin noted. The Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office also stressed the importance of not only modernising culture, but also supporting branches of the economy tied to the culture sector, including information technologies containing large quantities of creative content, and cultural tourism.
“Modernisation and the development of the educational system must also become among our priorities, thereby promoting the ascent of the culture sector,” Sergei Naryshkin stated.
As part of his working trip to Ulyanovsk, Mr Naryshkin laid flowers at the Heydar Aliyev memorial.
