Participants of the meeting discussed various practical aspects of organising the sixth session of the Conference of the UN Convention against Corruption member-states in Russia in 2015.
Sergei Dubik briefed Dimitri Vlassis on the President of Russia’s legislative initiatives aimed at introducing civil servants’ obligation to submit information on their expenditures, sources of money they spend, and the legality of the money they acquire. These draft laws bring Russian legislation in full compliance with global anti-corruption standards, including Article 20 of the UN Convention against Corruption on establishing as a criminal offence illicit enrichment.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on having Russia undergo a review of its implementation of the indicated Convention and the UNODC’s possible input into the effective implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Plan for 2012–2013’s stipulations concerning issues of international anti-corruption cooperation.
Sergei Dubik and Dimitri Vlassis discussed a plan of action for implementing the international UNODC anti-corruption projects and initiatives financed by Russia, as well as prospects for joint participation by Russia and the UNODC in the activities of the International Anti-Corruption Academy.
In addition, participants of the meeting examined methods of furthering constructive cooperation between Russia and the UNODC in countering corruption.
