Meeting of Commission for Countering Corruption

Presidential Adviser Sergei Dubik held a meeting of the Commission for Coordination of Work of the Federal Executive Authorities and Other State Agencies in Fulfilling Russian Federation’s International Agreements on Fighting Corruption.

September 27, 2013
18:00

Participants in the meeting included representatives from federal executive bodies, higher judiciary authorities, the Prosecutor General’s Office, Investigative Committee, Presidential Executive Office and the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of the Russian Federation.

Meeting participants discussed preparations for the 5th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption, which will be held in Panama on November 25–29, 2013. Members of the Commission noted the importance of ensuring effective participation by the Russian delegation in this event, in light of preparations to hold the 6th session of the Conference in Russia in 2015.

Discussion participants examined issues of cooperation with the UN anti-corruption legal library. The library website provides materials on anti-corruption agencies, regulations and other documents in the field of combating corruption from over 170 states. The Justice Ministry was instructed to regularly update relevant information about the Russian Federation on the UN anti-corruption legal library’s website.

Members of the Commission also discussed current issues in cooperating with the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA), including participation by Russian representatives in the Master in Anti-Corruption Studies programme at the IACA summer school in 2014.

The meeting approved a list of experts from the Russian Federation to participate in monitoring procedures within the OECD Working Group on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials, as well as the makeup of the steering committee for the Russia-EU-Council of Europe Protection of Entrepreneurs in the Russian Federation from Corrupt Practices cooperation programme.

Following the discussion, the Commission issued targeted instructions aimed at implementing the decisions adopted at the meeting.
