In his remarks at the meeting, Mr Ivanov identified reviving the role of culture in society, an emphasis on regional development and overcoming the generation gap as the main priorities for the draft foundations of state culture policy.
Mr Ivanov called for close attention to the document’s basic provisions of direct concern to the public and to people involved in cultural activity. Culture policy should create and make use of all possible tools for passing on to young people the moral and cultural experience that society has built up, because this continuation is absolutely essential for a society’s development, Mr Ivanov said.
Mr Ivanov noted that the draft document, in accordance with the President’s instruction, will be presented for public discussion. At the same time, this should not be too lengthy a process. Mr Ivanov said that discussion of the document could take around a month.
