Sergei Ivanov took part in Investigative Committee Board meeting

Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Ivanov took part in a meeting of the Investigative Committee’s Board on the performance of the Russian Federation Investigative Committee in 2014 and targets for 2015.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office stressed, in particular, that Investigative Committee employees should get more actively involved in activities to combat corruption. Mr Ivanov Ivanov Sergei Ivanov SergeiSpecial Presidential Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport also noted the importance of establishing the circumstances conducive to such criminal actions.

The official said this would help minimise conditions and prerequisites for corruption in such areas as healthcare, education, housing and utilities, among others. In addition, Mr Ivanov stressed it was inadmissible for Investigative Committee investigators to abuse their authority in order to put pressure on businesses and called on them to immediately respond to any attempts to involve employees in commercial disputes.

At the same time, Sergei Ivanov spoke of the need to raise the quality of investigation into terrorist and extremist crimes, which have a negative impact on state and public foundations and remain a priority for the Investigative Committee. The official also called on investigators to pay special attention to the high probability of attempts to rock the boat of inter-ethnic relations in Crimea, stressing the need to promptly counter such attempts and thoroughly investigate them in a timely fashion.

The Chief of Staff stressed the importance of interaction between the Investigative Committee and other law enforcement and oversight agencies and special services, noting that the Investigative Committee has everything necessary to make this possible.
