The meeting addressed the issue of executing the President’s instructions aimed at increasing the regions’ economic sustainability and financial security in the current economic conditions.
Participants in the meeting included the governors of Perm and Khabarovsk territories, Voronezh, Tula and Ulyanovsk regions, and representatives from the Finance Ministry, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, Economic Development Ministry and the Government Executive Office. Governors and acting governors from 15 other federal constituent entities joined the meeting via video linkup.
The working group discussed progress in the work to reduce deficits in regional budgets and replace the regions’ costly commercial loans with loans from the federal budget.
Particular attention was given to improving efficiency in budget spending, based on the need to unconditionally fulfil social obligations and the President’s May Executive Orders.
