Oleg Safonov, head of the Federal Tourism Agency and head of the drafting group, briefed the participants on the work to prepare a report analysing the current situation in the tourism and health resort sector in Russia.
In their remarks, working group members discussed the implementation of federal and regional measures to satisfy public demand for holiday, leisure and health resort facilities and also to develop domestic and foreign tourism. Implementing these measures will make it possible to offer more competitive tourism products in demand on the domestic and foreign tourism markets and develop a highly profitable sector of the economy.
The participants noted the need to establish a common multilingual information base that will contain all information about tourism sites, cultural heritage sites, travel routes, holiday and health resorts, and the range of services they offer.
Taking part in the meeting were Deputy Transport Minister Alexei Tsydenov, Deputy Healthcare Minister Tatyana Yakovleva, representatives of the Federal Assembly, federal and regional executive authorities, representatives of public and tourism-related organisations, and members of the expert community.
The comments made during the meeting will be included in the final draft report to be presented to the President at the State Council Presidium meeting.
