In his remarks at the forum session, Mr Ivanov noted that decisions taken and sponsorship support from a number of companies have made it possible to bring the population of Far East leopards up to 80 over the last four years, and the next step is to raise the population to 100–120 leopards.
Mr Ivanov also visited the military-historical panorama Paratroopers land on Shumshu. The Last Island of War, together with honorary member of the International Olympic Committee Jean-Claude Killy.
The exhibition was set up by public organisation Search Movement of Russia to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II and relates the story of one of the war’s final battles – the landing of Soviet troops on the island of Shumshu, one of the islands in the Kuril group.
After visiting the exhibition, Mr Ivanov noted what an important role the search movement plays and thanked the organisation’s members and the exhibition’s organisers for their work.
