Addressing the meeting participants, Sergei Ivanov noted that this is the first meeting of the board in its new composition and expressed hope as its new chairperson that by working together, Rostelecom will not only maintain its position as one of the communications sector leaders, but will also continue to develop while actively using new, promising points of application.
During the meeting, which was held at Rostelecom’s network control centre, participants discussed organisational aspects pertaining to the Board of Directors’ direct work, as well as key issues pertaining to everyday functioning of one of the largest Russian telecommunications companies. In particular, participants discussed suggestions to create Rostelecom’s own real estate fund, as well as its strategy in new segments.
Also, the council resolved to cancel additional remuneration to board members. Thus, top managers will not receive quarterly bonuses or additionalmonthly paymentsfor extra work. However, Mr Ivanov stressed that in the current economic conditions, this is the right, responsible decision that deserves respect.
