Russia’s work to protect and preserve rare wildlife species and participation in the efforts of international nature conservation organisations was the subject of discussion.
Mr Ivanov spoke at the meeting about Russia’s projects to protect the Amur tiger and Far Eastern leopard, and state corporation Rosatom’s initiative to protect elephants from poaching in Tanzania. Mr Ivanov also said that Russia will send high-level representatives to the Second International Tiger Conservation Forum, which will take place in March 2016 in India.
The meeting’s participants included member of IFAW advisory council and American actress Pamela Anderson, IFAW Vice President for Development Andrew Wilson, Head of the IFAW Moscow Office Maria Vorontsova, Russian Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Sergei Donskoy, Presidential Aide and Head of the Presidential Control Directorate Konstantin Chuychenko, and Advisor to the Head of the Russian Geographical Society Anastasia Chernobrovina.
