The Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office congratulated everyone on the coming Defender of the Fatherland Day and addressed words of special gratitude to the attending veterans. “For us you will always serve as an example of valour and honour, an example of unbending spirit, dedicated service to our Fatherland and loyalty to this country and to your oath of allegiance. Your contribution to strengthening ties between generations and to consolidating our society around patriotic values is invaluable,” Mr Ivanov said. The official stressed that the initiatives directed at preserving the memory of the war, like the panorama opening in Moscow, will always be supported by the state.
The Battle for Berlin – The Banner Bearers’ Feat military historical panorama by the Nevsky Batalist organisation is dedicated to the last days of the Berlin operation and the storming of the Reichstag. It will open for visitors on Defender of the Fatherland Day marked on February 23.
