Mr Ivanov called the strategic partnership between Russia and China a model of bilateral relations in the 21st century and noted that the two countries share common positions on practically all bilateral cooperation matters and international issues.
Mr Ivanov said that close cooperation between Russian and Chinese diplomats played a big part in resolving serious issues such as eliminating chemical weapons in Syria and achieving agreement on Iran’s nuclear programme. Mr Ivanov also noted the two countries’ common approach to building an indivisible security and cooperation architecture in the Asia-Pacific region, confidence-building in the space sector, and guaranteeing international information security.
Mr Ivanov highlighted the contribution the Russian and Chinese media have made to promoting steady development of bilateral ties and strengthening trust and understanding between the two countries. Mr Ivanov said that this cooperation came through particularly clearly during the events celebrating the 70th anniversary of Victory in World War II.
Mr Ivanov said he is sure that this forum will become an organic part of the reciprocal Russian and Chinese media years, which began in December 2015, and that making the forum an annual event would help to take the two countries’ media cooperation to a qualitatively new level.
