The working group to prepare a meeting of the Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport met in the Presidential Executive Office to discuss the implementation of strategic and programme documents on physical culture and sport and a draft strategy on developing physical culture and sport in the Russian Federation through to 2030.
Presidential Aide and Deputy Chairman of the Council Igor Levitin made opening remarks at the meeting.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Sport Oleg Matytsin, Governor of the Primorye Territory and head of the working group Oleg Kozhemyako, representatives from the relevant federal and regional executive government bodies, national sports federations, as well as by Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Chekhonin and Pro-Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University Sergei Yegorov.
The participants discussed the results of implementing the strategy for developing physical culture and sport in the Russian Federation through to 2020, the relevant federal targeted programme for 2016–2020, the relevant state programme, and the project entitled Sport is a Norm of Life, which is part of the Demography National Project.
The main goals of the new strategy for the development of physical culture and sport through 2030 were mapped out during the discussion, including those for mass sport, high-performance sport and international cooperation in sport.
